Full Value Protection

Local Moves

In accordance with ICC regulations, your Bill of Lading issued by STI Moving and Storage provides you with FREE Valuation Coverage (i.e., insurance) at \$0.60 per pound per article valuation.

Long Distance Moves

All licensed moving companies are required to provide basic carrier liability insurance, which covers 60 cents per pound per item. This means that if an item is lost or damaged during the move, the moving company will only be liable for 60 cents per pound of that item. For example, if a 100-pound couch is damaged during the move, the moving company would only be liable for \$60.

*This is a minimum amount of protection, and the customer should be aware that this does not provide full coverage insurance for belongings. Having this protection does not exclude the purchase of additional third-party insurance.

Full Replacement Value Insurance

Some customers opt to purchase additional insurance through a third-party insurance provider. This can provide more comprehensive coverage and may have fewer limitations than basic carrier liability or full value protection.

It’s important to carefully consider your insurance options when planning a move. Very often, your homeowner’s insurance will cover moving from one residence to another, so please check with your broker. Otherwise, we recommend MovingInsurance.com.
